One of the reasons why I miss Singapore is because its local food. It's not the wanton mee or hokkien mee as honestly I do not really ship them. After a year since the last time my visit to Singapore for my graduation, I pay another visit to this country again. But this time, my culinary craving whispered its desire to discover more of local food at hawker centers.
My initial destination for Maxwell food court at Chinatown area was actually Tian Tian Chicken Rice that I had been dying to try. However, I was not lucky that day. My dream to try the best chicken rice in Singapore was indeed just a dream. The stall was closed on Monday, but I still need to satisfy my morning hunger. Since the sun was just risen that day and not many stalls were opened, me and my friend only had few options. Zhen Zhen drew our attention as the only stalls with a quite long queue, so we decided to give it a try.

There are several topping choices for the porridge. Since the menu is in Chinese and only manage to spot some word that I understand so we decided to just ordered the one that I recognized. After some waiting time, we had a small bowl of fish porridge and fish salad. Despite of the stall auntie claims it as a small portion at $2.5 each, let me tell you, it was not small at all. The porridge was so smooth and taste divine. Uniquely, the texture was so fine with no lumps inside but they still manage to make it not watery. The texture that you will never expect to get from a bowl of porridge.
The raw fish salad was another win. It's surprisingly fresh and not fishy at all. The tangy vinaigrette compliment the fish well. You can dip the raw fish into the hot porridge and it will be cooked as they sliced it thinly. But I like it the way it is, raw.
It's such a good deal for a decent food with cheap price. Hopefully I could visit here someday soon and satisfy my curiousity for Tian Tian Chicken rice too!
