Yaudah Bistro

This restaurant is located in Menteng, which honestly hard to recognize for those pay their first visit. There is no sign platted around the area and the only trademark is the big yellow painted wall with a red circle in the center which rather can be misleading as a Japanese Restaurant. Furthermore, the name of this restaurant really represents as if it was serving Indonesian food, but do not get it wrong. It's actually a German's restaurant.

They serve typical German's food such as bratwurst, schnitzel, some pasta and you can also get some assorted bread to bring home. Their menu range is quite big I might say, from English breakfast until Italiano pasta. However, one of my friends, who had tried the food for couple times, told us that their signature dish must be the pork dish. Hence, a plate of Winner Schnitzel was included on our lunch that day. Beside, we also ordered beef bratwurst, luncheon meat, and grill breast chicken.

Luncheon Meat and Sunny Side Egg
The luncheon meat is a normal pork luncheon meat sold in supermarket. My friend chose the wrong dish, I think. She was disappointed too. However, the mashed potato was nice and creamy. This actually one of the reason why I like to hunt German's restaurant, because most of the time, the mashed potato doesn't fail my taste bud. The creaminess is just perfect, but unfortunately Ya Udah bistro version it's too bland for me.

Beef Bratwurst
The best known German's signature dish is probably bratwurst. The dish is easily accepted food for many people, simple, versatile and of course, meaty. Ya Udah bistro rendition was nicely seasoned, tender and big. They offer several choices for the sausage, including pork, chicken and beef. Like most bratwurst platter servings, they also added caramelized onion on it and tasted nice too.
Winner Schnitzel
One of our orders had different side dish, it was hash brown. Unfortunately, the hash brown was rather not crispy and too soggy. I think they put to much "glue" in it that make the potato itself did not stand out. On the other hand, the pork schnitzel was indeed the winner. Big size, crispy batter, tender and nicely seasoned.

Grilled Chicken Breast
This was my order and I should really have listened to my sister when she told me not to order their steak. It was so dry and tasteless. Well, it's chicken breast anyway which indeed dry and fat-less. But I think it's to dry and besides, they put too much butter which made it too oily instead of nice fatty flavour.

Overall, we had a quite good meal there with good companies too. The food is pretty decent if you choose the correct dish and big in portion with reasonable price. Next time I will definitely choose their pork dish range over other dishes. However, many reviews show that their roast chicken and pork knuckle are to die for, but it will take 1.5 hours to cook because those are slow cooking dish. So if you wish to order those, you can order 1.5 hours prior your visit.

Kainara - Gluten Free Food Store

This is something new in Indonesia. I was excited when I got this name popped out from Sophie Navita's photo in instagram (@sophienavita). Well, I am going through a healthy lifestyle, and I thought this would be worth trying. Hence, I opened their website, eye-ing their products and made a decision to buy some of the snacks, since it was approaching Eid Mubarak's holiday season. They have two choices of delivery, by their courier if prevent the orders from unwanted damage or JNE. They get their courier sent orders every Thursday with IDR 25k charged added to every order, while JNE is calculated by the weight. I got my ordered delivered by courier. Prior to being offered for their courier choice, I was told that for JNE my order was included in 1kg weight and the fee was IDR 10k.

Their snack line includes chips, crackers, cookies and even gluten-free ice cream. Besides, they also have gluten-free ingredients such as gluten-free flour and rice. For me, I ordered corn tortillas (200g, @IDR 17,500), kimpul chips (blue taro chips, 250g @IDR 19,000) and kaastangel (1 cookie jar), savory cheese cookies. However, after I got my orders delivered, I found that the cookies doesn't contain any cheese at all, only salt and some combination of flour which is gluten-free of course. Despite of very lightly seasoned, honestly, their taste was not bad. The chips were crunchy, seasoning was okay for me and because I personally like snacking so much, they were still addictive (which is actually bad for me).

Since the products are made with healthy ingredients and unfortunately they are overcharged nowadays; you might find it a bit overpriced, especially the cookies, but it's mostly reasonable I might say as having tagged as healthy food.

Overall, producing healthy products in the country which healthy eating is still rare to be lived by the citizen is a brave move and I would like to try order others product as well.

If you want to order and have any inquiry, the owner, Ms Christien can be reached through email or phone (the phone number listed for whatsapp too). She is friendly and nice, so feel free to contact her anytime.

Dill Gourmet at Plaza Indonesia

This cafe was once Secret Recipe on Lower Basement, same floor as Food Hall. The place is an open space and have many chalk-writing for their menu and promo like other normal coffee shop. As I was on mission to fulfill my randomness, so I did order random food and drink. Hence, for that night I had a cup of cappuccino and for main course, Hutong Duck Sandwich. We might have heard about peking duck, but Hutong Duck, sounds new for most of us. An interesting dish to order I might say. Apparently, Hutong, like the famous- Peking, is also a city in China. Peking is basically Beijing and Hutong, which is, well, Hutong.

Dill Gourmet has a promo of purchasing coffee or tea you will be able to get 50% off for any desserts. I definitely didn't want to miss the chance, so I bought an apple crumble pie to take away. They do not stop there, they also offer a free jumbo cookie if you follow them on twitter or instagram, snap a picture of dish you order and upload it.

Here's how it goes :
  1. Follow @dillgourmet on twitter/instagram
  2. Buy any food and beverage (or you could buy first then follow later like what I did he.he)
  3. Take a picture of those dishes
  4. Tweet or upload to instagram with mention their account and put hash-tag #dillgourmetcafe
I followed the rules and sure, I got the cookie. However, I was wondering them not checking their twitter as I could get the giant cookie by telling them that I've done those steps. No clarification and all that. Never mind, customers' gain. Ha..ha.

The cappuccino comes with green tea cookies
I guess all the beverages are complemented with green tea cookies. As for mine, cappuccino nothing to brag about, unless for the latte art which for me it's cool (Sorry, it's my first drink with latter art).

My Complete Dinner
As we can see, there's a label on the sandwich package, I reckon all the sandwiches are labeled, simple thought, so it might not switched. I uploaded this to my twitter, but as I mentioned before, I think it wasn't uploaded properly, yet, I still got the cookie. Yay!
Sorry for the truth that this ugly duckling is awesome!
Finally, I reach this part where I review the yummy duck! You have no idea how exciting I am to exaggerate the awesomeness of this dish. Okay, I am not actually exaggerating because it's truly awesome!

You can see some crackling on the bun which was crispy yet soft inside. I never ever tasted any sandwich bun like this before. The filling? Don't ask. Despite the normal veggies and condiments, the duck, once again I said, delicious. The duck have been marinated and cooked to the perfection, succulent and nicely seasoned. When I take the whole stack in one bite, the flavour and texture just complete. Got crispy and soft at the same time from the bun, salty and more sweetness from the Hutong Duck and tartness from spicy mayo. Honestly, I was surprised, in a good way, on the first bite. The sandwich is no joke.

Free Chocolate Cookie
I just recalled to snap the cookie picture when I was on the way finishing it. Apple's logo still be famous though it's halfway bitten right? LOL.
The taste was okay for me, not so sweet and the dark chocolate was prominent, which is good. I still prefer Subway's soft cookies and I miss it!

As for the apple crumble pie was not good. Maybe due to exposed too much outside fridge, so the pastry was soggy. However, the apple custard didn't wow me either. The chocolate flavour overpowered the apple mixture, while it's supposed to be the star of the dish.

Overall, the sandwich is definitely worth a try, might come back to try another variety. By the way, I only spent IDR 75k for the whole order, which I think it's pretty reasonable.
